I was getting read to update our environment to the latest patch release on version 10.0 but then got an email about 10.5 being released. Looked over some of the release notes and saw some of the new features in CCS.

Has anyone on here updated yet to 10.5?

You can upgrade from 10.0 to 10.5 or from 9.0 to 10.5 too. You would have to upgrade all your CCS components, like: RMS, BVIS, DSS, Application server, and the  DPS components.

    Remember the sequence.

    Does it have Web Dashboards?

version 10.0 had web dashboards I believe. I did not see anything major as a improvement on that system in 10.5 so far.

I'm still waiting on the ability to use tiered dashboards on the web interface

I believe, you cannot use tiered dashbords on the web interface...you would have to use the console for that.

Correct you have to use the console for that...though I have put in an request to have those added to the web console. We se more tiered dashboards now than anything...they're quite usefull

The connectors to DLP and other symantec products also , i guess..

I thought DLP was in one of the pcu's from the year..but may be wrong. I didn't see what other symantec connectors were new in version 10.5 . I know they had one for DLP prior to version 10.5 and Altiris I believe in version 10.0 pcu-1 or 2 . Are there other new ones you've seen for version 10.5?

I think, Symantec Endpoint encryption, Enterprise security manager connectors are also there.

ESM would have been part of the version 10 build. I didn't see anything for Endpoint Encryption but I'll look

Its tough sometimes because although they do not list the connector in the manual I know there is one in the SIM to use with SCCS. I'll have to check on the SEP one..that would be cool

Web Dashboard components for CCS VM, CSP and RAM were supposed to ship with 10.5, but they did not.

I've done 2 major upgrades/deployments so far (healthcare and telco) and so far so good... we have 1 BVIS die on us, but I don't think that was 10.5 upgd. related.

    Easy upgrade!

    Kevin

The new feature of CCS 10.5 is introduction of SCAP content in R&A

SCAP stands for The Security Content Automation Protocol-

It is good to upgrade directly to 10.5 if you are not yet on 10.0

Moving ahead you should see more of integration of ESM and DLP

We are looking at the purchase of DLP and have done some onsite tests with it We do not use ESM though. I haven't seen a need to purchase ESM since (I believe) it was a product merged into SCCS and other parts of it aready do the same thing if I understand it correctly
