Version 12 plus Exchange agent does not FINISH Job

I am running a new install of backup Exec 12 (Rev 1356) plus Exchange Agent on a Windows 2003 R2 x64 version server. The server runs Exchange 2007 and is new with little data on it. The backup drive is an LTO2 200/400 Gig drive.

When I run a backup (full EVERYTHING inc Exchange) the actual writing to tape takes 30-40 mins great BUT the job doesn't ever stop.

The job keeps running until I try to Cancel it which doesn't work and eventually I have to cycle the Job Engine.

Over the recent holiday the job ran for 131 Hours before I got to it and restarted the Job Engine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So if you remove the Exchange portion of the job and run the job it completes with no problems?

Is there an Active Alert to remove the tape and click OK?

If you have a standalone drive and have selected "Eject on End" as part of the job description, the job will not "finish" until you reply to this alert

I am having the same issue. I have read through the forums and found a suggestion to re-download the install .zip file and extract into a new folder, then stop all BE services and try reinstalling. I still have the same issue where the browser.exe launches correctly then I click on install, setup.exe starts to launch and then disappears. The same faulting module event gets thrown every time. I tried a repair of the existing BE version and tried another reinstall, still no success. Our sr. engineer thinks that completely uninstalling the old version and installing a clean new version is our next step. I don't feel that it needs to be that drastic yet. There must be an install config file/setting or something that can be altered so that I can do a reinstall to upgrade existing BE. Ideas, anyone?
