Version Reporting

Created: 22 Jan 2008 • Updated: 21 May 2010 | 4 comments
I am upgrading SEP 11.0 to 11.0 MR1. I am trying to run a report to see which PCs that getting their applied packages. Is there another report that I can use to verify the upgrade besides the stupid pie chart that doesn't tell me squat? I would like to know the computer names andnot the number of PCs. Thanks.

Nevermind. I figured how to export to a csv file. What a pain! Why can't a detailed version report be included as an option?

There is another way of doing this that will show status in real-time as opposed to having to export over and over to check progress.  Under Monitors>Logs, choose Computer Status log.  Then use advanced options and use the drop down for product version.  Before the upgrade begins, you'll only have one specific version number to choose from.  Click view log.  You should now see all of your clients.  As they finish upgrading and check-in, they will disappear off of the list, since the version will be different after the upgrade.  If you now go backto the view log setup page, the product version drop down will have two choices (after the 1st system finishes the update).  If you want you can now choose the new version number, click view log, and watch the list slowly get larger.

I would also like to know how to get some useful information out of the reporting tool. The pie charts don't do me any good. How can I get a list of computers instead of the pie charts? It would be really awesome to have the pie chart and then just be able to click on a slice of the pie and be given all of the names of the PCs that were included in that slice of the pie. Same for the bar graphs. For now though, I will settle for someone telling me how I can export that CSV or what I need to do to get actual PC names.

The reports section only gives you an overview.  You can only see the detailed information from Monitors section.  Select the logs tab.  Choose your search criteria (click on advanced for more options), then click the View Logs button.  This will give you the details that your looking for.  Near the top you'll see an export button.  The exported log has even more details if needed.
