Hi,

I have a question regarding using the BE to virtualize an sever,

Can we use the BE to backup one of our domain controlers that has all of the 5 FSMO roles, and then restore this backup as an .vhd in an Hype-V inviorment?

I know we can use other tools like P2V and etc ...., but I would like to know if we can do this with BE?  if yes how can we do it?

Thanks

Hi

With backup yes you can backup guest machine on hyperv for that ensure you have got latest version of bakupexec 2010 r3 sp1 & on hyper v server you have got remote agent installed

To backup guest machines on hyperv just need to expand server having  hyperv role & then using hyperv agent you can go either GRT backup of that machine or also you can do APP GRT  backup for that ensure you have hyperv license & for doing APP GRT you have that necessary license like in your case it is Domain controller so you will need Active directory license key to do APP GRT

You cannot use BE to convert a physical machine to a VM.  When you restore the system state, it will probably fail during the re-boot because of imcompatible drivers, wrong IP address, etc.

The next release of BE will have P2V capabilities.
