This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hello -
I have a question on VIAS . Pardon me if I am asking the obvious -- but this is the first time I am working with it.

I installed VIAS Data Collector on 15 Servers (Health Check) and it ran successfully on all of them but only on 1 of them I got back an .xml file on all the other servers I got a .log file

When I try to rename the .log to .xml & try to upload the file online -- it doesnt let me saying the file is not well formatted.

Please guide me here - Thanks

Hello, First, did you run the

Hello,

First, did you run the data collector once on each host, or did you run it remotely from one machine to all the others? If you ran it once using the internal remoting, it will only create one XML file for all the hosts together. You can upload that file and browse through each individual host.

If you ran it once on each of the 15 machines and 14 of them did not generate an XML file for you, that sounds like an issue.

Please clarify how you ran the application and we can debug further from there.

thanks!

Run Method

Thanks for your response - I did run it individually on each server . Also another question can you guys confirm if the .xml file is created / located in any specific directory or the tool install directory ?

Thanks
Sanam

 Hello, The generated XML

 Hello,

The generated XML file is by default located under the directory named 'reports',  that is created in the location from where you invoked the 'healthcheck' script (present inside the install directory).

Once you traverse down the 'reports' directory, you will find the generated XML file in it.

XML File naming convention :  <server_name>-<timestamp>.xml

Please see if you can find the 'reports' directory and the XML file in it.

Thanks,
Jaison

upload locations

Hello,

It appears that we have caused some confusion about where to upload XML files. For Healthcheck, the correct upload URL is

https://vias.symantec.com/labs/vhcs/prep_upload.php

Healthcheck is a beta VOS Labs service. VIAS is an independent service.

We will ensure that the next release can read and parse all incoming formats from any upload location. In the meantime, we will enhance the VIAS XML uploader to redirect you to the HC uploader if the incorrect XML is uploaded.

We apologize for the confusion and thank you for using Veritas Operations Services.
