  • 1.  VIP Two-Factor Authentication - APN vs. VPN? Troubleshooting.

    Posted Mar 15, 2016 06:09 AM

    Good Day all

I currently administer a VIP implementation to secure a customer's VPN service, which is running with no problems.

The problem comes in here: certain users in the customer's organisation utilize APN services to access their domain. The VIP solution, as it is currently configured, is not compatible with this setup, and returns error messages when attempting to VPN into the network with it.

Is there a specific method required to configure VIP to work with an APN?

    Please and thank you.

Hi Bruce - The end-users are attempting to VPN through the APN? Just making sure I understand what they are doing.

    Hi Andreas

At current, the majority of users use a cisco VPN client.

Certain users use an APN integrated 3G device.

This device connects the user's machine directly to the client's internal domain network automatically when connected, without VPN interaction, as if the user connected to the local network on-site.

The issue is that this bypasses the security VIP provides, and the challenge is to see if VIP can integrate with this APN infrastructure, alongisde the already established VPN setup.

Hope that makes it a bit clearer.

    Thanks for the assistance.
