  • 1.  VIRSCAN7.DAT and TCDEFS.DAT files stored in multiple locations

I have found a few posts, but none that seem to fit my situation exactly. I am running out of diskspace on my Windows 2008 server running SEPM 12.1 due to multiple copies of virscan7.dat and tcdefs.dat on my local drive. Most of the dat files have the same file date and size, but are stored in about 15 different locations, taking up a lot of space on my drive. How many copies should I have and in what locations?

The locations I see virscan7.dat are:

    c:\programdata\symantec\definitions\symcdata\spcvirdef64\20131211.032

    c:\programdata\symantec\definitions\symcdata\spcvirdef32\20131211.032

Looks about right, have the same setup on my SEPMs. It's for both the SEPM and SEP client.

How many content revisions you keeping on the SEPM?

    I keep 3 content revisions.

I am new to managing SEPM. Have the same file in these many locations is normal? Is there a reason why so many are required? I understand both the client and the manager would need a copy, but why so many?

inetpub folder is for SEPM and other folders for clients.

are saying you keeping 3 content revision on SEPM? to avoid fill definition on outdated clients you may want to oncrease the number of content to be stored on SEPM.
