New to Ghost, so be easy.

Have ghost installed and basically running to where I can push and pull images in a test enviroment. But I need to depoly this in a remote country and while things seem installed properly I have an issue I cannot resolve.

When I initiate a Ghost push or pull of an image to a client ( client software installed easily ), everything seems to start but I get a failure " To Virtual Partition " each way. I can start the session on the server and if I specify that the client is to particapate, I get the screen acknowlegdement, warning and all but the PC never reboots, the session will fail with the virtual partition error.

    What am I missing ?

Most likely what is going on is the Virtual Partition is checking the mass storage drivers and the network drivers, finds the one it is looking for is not there and then fails.

Please get the new drivers and put them into WinPE. To do that go here: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/blogs/adding-drivers-winpe

If your having trouble please reply with what version of GSS your useing, what Pre-OS, what make a model the PC is, and what network card your useing.

    Okay, tried but failed.

    Version is: 11.5.0.2113.

PC is a Dell Optiplex 745 running XP

Dowloaded the driver directly from Dell. Went through the steps to add, seems to go thru but fails with error code 0x2. Myself I beleive the driver is already there. There is a listing for Broadcom.570x, though this is a Broadcom.57xx from Dell.

When I try to image the PC, the event logs shows:

    File(s) updated in client successful.

    Updating PreOS successful

    To Virtual Partition failed

We use 745's here and I never had to update the driver, it worked right out of the box, so to speak. I only use WinPE as a pre-os, not PC-DOS.

Are you useing PC-DOS or WinPE? Have you tried both? What do the error logs say? Have you made a VP your self and tried to run it? If so what happened?

Know a little more. We have several of the optiplex 745's. My first 2 failed, my 3rd one however is working like a champ. Tried a fourth, and while it fails like the earlier 2, this one only shows the MAC address of the unit. I can inventory it fine, but only see the mac address.
