Hi,

I have setup a virtual pc with a console and computer name, drag/dropped a deploy job to it. My question is, is it possible to use the computer name to start the job from WinPE?

I am aware that there are some primary keys default being MAC address. Obtaining the MAC address for the various laptops we have will be time consuming. Simply entering the PC name to selecting the virtual machine would be so much easier.

Thanks

Charlie,

you'd have to change the e.g Serial number to match the hostname to do that and that feature is normally only available on servers. This is because DS needs a "hook" to figure out which machine this is, since there's not a hostname in the BIOS. Frequently though, your PC vendor will ship you a spreadsheet of hostnames and matching MAC addresses. You could then script this to do what you need? or possibly some Intel vPro magic could be attempted? hth r
