Virtual Software Conflict
Updated: 29 Jul 2010 | 1 comment
Hi,
I have virtulized a software package that our company is currently using and virtulized a new software update of the program. I was wondering if it was possible to run the two programs concurrently, as when I tried to do so the older version detected the new program and said it needed to be updated, also they use the same folders.
Is it possible to have the two virtulized apps in seperate layers whereby they can both run at the same time with no conflict, and if so, could someone explain how? I am currently using SVS 2.1 and am unable to update to SWV 6.1, so can this be done using SVS?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Having 6.1 would make this
Having 6.1 would make this easier because you could use layer isolation to make it so each of the applications couldn't see each other.
With 2.1 it's much harder, sometimes just installing one of the two versions to a non-default path will work around this but usually there's not much you can do if that doesn't work.
Some applications have the option to disable the upgrade notifications (there might not be a GUI for it but check to see in the registry if there's a flag that can be disabled).
