Does Virtual Vault take up space on the Exchange Server? I want to get rid of shortcuts but even a 2k shortcut is too much.

No, Virtual Vault does not

No, Virtual Vault does not need any space in Exchange.

More on Virtual Vault

Guys - we've just uploaded a great video for you all to watch, it's by Alex Brown (PM for EV Exchange) and will help answer some of your questions.

Alex & I are in Berlin at Teched so if you're in town then pop over to our stand in the exhibition hall and we'll happily show you VV in the flesh.

Meanwhile  go check this out
http://eval.veritas.com/flashdemos/products/enterprise_vault/virtual_vault/

You might need to pause the video once it starts playing whilst the rest streams down.

Cheers

Hi, I would be careful on

Hi,

I would be careful on your shortcut policy.  For example say you have a poliicy of archive items older than 3 months but archive larger items older then say 1 week.  Then let's say a user takes a couple of weeks away, they would come back to the office and the item has been archived and no shortcut exists but the item will be in VV but they wouldn't even be aware it exists.  Kind of a niche case but you get the idea.

Thanks Mike!

I wanted to thank everyone at Symantec for bringing us this new feature! It has answered my customers issues and they are very happy with the new feature! I was wondering when the API will be out for this?

Thank you so much for a wonderful product!

Hi Greg,

Thanks for the great comments we really do appreciate it.  Though we may be 'Symantec' we are human after all and behind it is a great set of engineers, QA and product managers who have worked over a long time to bring this great feature togehter for all our customers!

When you say APi, what are you thinking about doing, you got me curious!

Changes to Virtual Vault

My customer wants to change the name of the Virtual Vault  to "customer archive" and keep the folders from replicating so it does not look like their inbox. Some testing in the environment has confused customers with 2 similar inboxes. Users here will have to manually move items into Virtual Vault. Once the folder is created we want to lock down the folders so users will not make mistakes and delete, move, copy, or change the name of the folder. I can provide more details in email if you would like.
