Is it possible to resurrect a Layered App in the Base? Commit a Layer, convert it to an MSI or in some other way transfer it to the World of the Real?

You will not be able to do this.
The layered software is in such a format that it cannot be converted back.
There is a very easy way to convert form MSI to VSA, but definetly not the other way.
