Virtualized apps shortcuts missing after publishing to clients

Hi all,

I'm facing problems getting virtualized application shortcuts to show up after packaging them and stream down to the clients.

I'm using SWV 6.1 SP6 to package applications and upload them to my SWS 6.1 SP6 server. I've found out that the application detail is showing the wrong executable path that points to C:\Windows\Installer\xxx. Thus when the client launch the portal and starts the application, it gives an error saying it was not able to execute the process and stops there.

i've tried apps like textpad, adobe reader, office 2003/2007, all of them is giving similar errors.

When i tried to package these apps using the old SVS 2.1 SP3, the apps are working fine when i manually import them to the clients. but once i import and convert it into xpf format and upload to the SWS server, the error comes back again.

Anyone has any idea why is this happening and how can i resolve it. Please advise/help.

thanks.

Use Wise Virtual Composer

Hi,

When using the combined solution (SWV + SWS), it is recommended to use the Wise Virtual Composer for packaging to ensure that the post streaming experience is better.

Also from the scenario you described, it appears that the layers are not set to "Activate at startup" when packaged in SWV admin.

Please confirm and let us know.

Hi Balachandar,   I've also

Hi Balachandar,

I've also tried using the composer to package the apps but the same error  persist.

the activation on startup option is being toggled during my testing and it doesn't make any difference from what i can see.

any advise as on why the executable path of upload apps into the sws server would be changed to c:\windows\installer\xxx instead?

thanks.

Package Location Path

Hello There,

I beleive you are referring to the Packaged applications folder.

By default the packages applications are stored on the FE Server under the installed location when using legacy format packages (VSA, snapshot and MSI).

Starting XPF the packages go inside the repository (local drive, SAN, NAS, )...

If you are referring to some other screen, please add a screenshot for more clarity and to provide more details.

Also if you have a support contract please contact support with related details.
