Virus Definition Update
This issue has been solved. See solution.
Hi All,
Can we manually update as day wise on client machine ?
Now what we are doing here is downloading definitionv5i32.exe on one system and run maually to all clients to update.
Locally we do this very easily but our branch location which have lower bandwidth this is not possible to copy 40 MB or 50 MB on WAN.
So in this scenario can we copy incremental update manually.

Hi,
yes, you can, If they are managed, you can manually update the central console and your clients will automatically receive the incremental definitions:
this is the procedure to update the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager 11:

Re
@Giuseppe,
Thanks for your response.
We have around 12000 clients with SEP,
Not all are pulling updates properly b.coz sometime there was an issue with a network or other reason,
What I wanted is you aware that i.e. at Kaspersky website there is a definition download available for daily or weekly basis which is only appx 1 MB.
So my concern is there is any option in SEP to update daily wise update.
If yes then it is very helpful for us to update the clients.

I am not aware of similar functionality provided by Symantec. You can submit this enhancement in the Ideas section.
For your issue, I think you should fix the issues in your network.
In this document you can find some very useful pieces of advice to deploy SEP in a big network.

Hi Giuseppe,
Can you please suggest me the best thing to do in this big architecture...

Your network is very big for
Your network is very big for my experince, you should contant a Symantec consultant to evaluate your architecture but I can give you some pieces of advice:
1) for sure you have to use a SQL Server database
2) don't install several SEP Managers in replication, just two or three are enough
3) use a lot of GUP's (officialy a GUP can support 100 clients but it seems it can do more than this). They should be server machines.
4) few LUA's could be useful to help the SEPM's and the GUP's if they will result overloaded. LUA could be also a good fail-over solution (just regarding the content deployment), for example, you can create a location criteria under SEPM where you set up that if a client is not able to contact the SEPM, then it can use the LUA (instead of nothing by default or Internet as alternative).
5) Remember to apply the preparation for the Disaster Recovery (see the installation guide)
Other seuggestions are in the link I have given you in a previous post.

Giuseppe
Re
HI,
We have not install any other SEPM on our network, and also we are using SQL 2005 for DB.
We r using GUP for 500 below systems.
Please let me know can GUP take all updates like AV-AS, PTP and NTP or only AV-AS.
