You can check the analysis result from virustotal.com and if other websites are detected it as virus then submit the file for symantec security response team.

Submit the file to Symantec Do  not use the retail link. You should replace retail with the support you have got..

    Example:

    For essential

First off, what components are you using?

Run a threat analysis scan with the symhelp tool

Also, you may need to try a third party tool such as Adwcleaner or JRT

    Hi symantec.team,

The most important thing to do is to carefully open the suspicious .lnk with notepad or similar (don't just click it!!) and see what file the shortcut is directed to.  Find that file and submit that!

Here's an article that will help, once you have identified the suspicious files:

    Symantec Insider Tip: Successful Submissions!
    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/symantec-insider-tip-successful-submissions

Shortcuts are not malicious in themselves, but can play a part in causing that malicious file to launch.

Please do keep this thread up-to-date with your progress!
