Hi,
Can any one advise how we can get on-demand scanning of a networked drive (NAS) from a server.
The reports of malware being present on the NAS, needed scanning and cleaning the NAS data files – I am seeking advice on how best to approach this, and using a server with mapped drives to the NAS is an option.
Are there other methods that you can advise on ?

Symantec Antivirus For NAS
I think you need this software. http://www.symantec.com/business/antivirus-for-net...
However you can also enable network scanning but for securing your NAS you need this software.

SAV for NAS doesn't do on-demand
The SAV for NAS product doesn't do on-demand scanning. It acts more like an auto-protect mechanism for the storage device. Mapping a drive and scanning from a SEP client is an option but will likely have an impact on the performance of the NAS.
hi, thanks for the quick
hi,
thanks for the quick replay.
my question is "Can we map the NAS drive to a system and scan from that system" (is it possiable)"
I agree with Vikram. here is
I agree with Vikram. here is an option to scan the network drives in SEP. However, considering the fact that all the users are going to access it, its a best policy to have a dedicated software for protecting your network storage.

Yes..you can
As I mentioned above as well.
Once you map the drive.
There is an option in File System Auto-protect for Network Scanning ( to scan mapped netowork drives)
This will hlp you blocking the files coming into your system but it might not delete or quarantine the files in the Network dirves.
