This issue has been solved. See solution.

I am operating an Apple iMac OS and want to know whether the Norton antivirus scan for Mac will scan Windows XP files for viruses, in particular specific XP files that I want to have scanned.  I have Parallels also on the Mac which runs XP in a window.

Also, in general, is it necessary to get antivirus software for Parallels if I have Norton antivirus on the Mac.

Yes.

Hello,

Yes, Symantec Antivirus for MAC would scan all files, including XP files since these files are located on your HDD.

Hope that helps!!
