VMware and Recovery CD

Created: 22 Sep 2008 • Updated: 21 May 2010 | 1 comment

Hello,  we are using within a VMware environment to backup our virtual machines.

I have updated the restore CD build to include the VMware network and disk drivers.

I need to update to also include the VMware mouse and screen drivers as these are required to ease navigation when booting the CD image from within the VMware console.

Any ideas as to how to achieve this?

You might want to consider booting the virtual system by ISO of the recovery disk instead of a physical CD; look into the Boot If you need to add/remove drivers from the Windows base that the WINPE is using, first you have to install the Windows AIK, then you can use one of the tools, imagex.exe, to mount the boot.wim file in a read/write capacity and then you can make the changes just like you do with the regular ISO’s. Symantec Technical support at this time does not offer assistance in the modification of the Recovery environment using this method.
