This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hy,

We have a big problem with Backup Exec 2010 R3 - SP1. (BE is running under Windows 2008 R2)

We want to backup Virutal Machines. We get this error.

Sichern- VMVCB::\\VIRTUALCENTER\VCGuestVm\(DC)DATACENTER(DC)\vm\SERVERNAME
V-79-57344-38277 - Öffnen eines Datenträgers des virtuellen Computers nicht möglich.

VixDiskLib_Open() reported the error: You do not have access rights to this file

Sichern- VMVCB::\\VIRTUALCENTER\VCGuestVm\(DC)DATACENTER(DC)\vm\Erkannte virtuelle Maschine\SERVERNAME
V-79-57344-38277 - Öffnen eines Datenträgers des virtuellen Computers nicht möglich.

VixDiskLib_Open() reported the error: You do not have access rights to this file

Sichern- VMVCB::\\VIRTUALCENTER\VCGuestVm\(DC)DATACENTER(DC)\vm\SERVERNAME - not to use
V-79-57344-38277 - Öffnen eines Datenträgers des virtuellen Computers nicht möglich.

VixDiskLib_Open() reported the error: You do not have access rights to this file

Do you have any idea? We need a solution.  Thank you very very much for your help.

I see you are using the Backup Exec Vmware Agent.

What is your ESX(i) version, and is it licensed ?
In order to get the BE AVVI agent working, you need to have a licensed version of ESX(i).

What is the transport method you are trying to use ?
- SAN (does your BE server has access to the VMFS luns ?)
- NBD

Hy,

It is ESXi 5.0 and it is licensed. (Backup Exec 2010 R3 SP1 has ESXi 5.0 Support)

We do not make Backup over SAN. We make NBD.

Thank you for your help.

Ok. Does the Backup Exec service account has enough rights on the vCenter server ?

Also check this technote:

The Account is in the Group DomainAdmins and in the Local Administrator Group.

The TECHNOTE 124681 does not help. I reinstalled the VMWare agent, but I have the same errors.

Any Ideas??

can you ping the esx hosts from the BE server ?

otherwise, enable debug:

and post the logs.

SOLUTION

This was the solution I think. I can not ping the ESX Server. And on this ESX Server all machines are running.

We will check it and I am shure that the backup works. Thank you.
