I'm backing up a set of Linux VM's using the query builder. There's a dozen Linux VM's on this one datastore I have in which all but one of them back up successfully.

It's exiting out with a status code 20, invalid command parameter.

Client will backup successfully from within the VM but will not from the datastore using VMware policy type.

It's OS is: 2.6.18-348.6.1.el5 #1 SMP Fri Apr 26 09:21:26 EDT 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux.

My master and media servers are all Netbackup v. 7.5.0.3 on Windows 2008.

I verified all my zoning is correct and all my media server which are the VMware backup hosts have access to the datastores.

The backup will do the snapshot and then when it get's to the point where it starts the backup job doesn't seem to start streaming/writing any data. It then errors out and fails with exit code 20.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Hello,

From the VCenter console do you see any error message while snapshot is being created by NBU?

If yes, please try to create a snapshot from VCenter itself and see for error messages.

Please also upload the /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/bpfis folder contents from Backup host.

Regards,

first.. check if you are having the general issue specified in below tech note

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH61228

if that is not the case.

what is the VMguest hardware version?

What is the Vcenter version?

along with bpfis log , enable the VxMs log and provide the logs..

VxMS  Log

                      C:\Program Files\Common Files\VERITAS\VxMS\Logs\

                      Setup VxMS Verbosity-

                            HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ VERITAS \ VxMS
Change the Logging DWORD value to 0x7580
