This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi all,

I have a question about Netbackup and VMware

In the Netbackup admin said that is a must that the "backup host" were a Windows 2003 o windows 2008 to work, but then in the Netbackup appliance info mention that the backup host could be the same appliance, so now I was wondering if this is true or we still need the backup host to be a windows box?

If the appliance could be the "backup host" why a normal master/media server on unix or linux couldn't?

I just want to have a clear view of the recuirement for a VMware protection architecture using a Netbackup appliance and a normal master/media server on unix/linux

Thanks for any comment

See updated NetBackup 7.5.0.x for VMware Administrator's Guide

This Guide describes how to use NetBackup for VMware to backup and restore VMware virtual machines that run on VMware ESX servers. This also includes updates for the backup host on Linux and for the NetBackup Appliance 2.5.
