hi,

I have a Netbackup environment with a UNIX SOL10 Master Server.

A VirtualCenter (Vsphere4.1) running on a VM window2003R2 X64. Datastores are on a SAN.

Ten ESX Server for a hundred of production VM.

I would like to know if it is possible to install NBU7.1 client on the VCenter and declare this machine as BackupHost ?

I could give a specific name to BackupHost in /etc/hosts (master/client) to separate roles.

is that way possible ? Thank you.

Marc

yes, you can do that.. it is possible..

but I would recommend you to use the Media server as a backup host..  which will reduce the data travel path and increase the performance.

Thank you very much for your repli.

OK for the MediaServer, it should come soon. For the moment, datas will travel throught the LAN from backupHost to Master/media Server.

Marc.
