Hi -

Does anyone get the Bexec 2010 Vmware backup with GRT enabled for file level restore to work?

I have tried every possible solution with backup to disk and backup to tape, but fails every time with "cant create virtual machine" error.
When GRT disabled everything is ok.

What is your experience with the GRT option ?

Kind r

Bjørn.

And you have an agent in your virtual guest?
Keeping backing up to disk in your testing, as you cant restore if it's on tape, without it copying back to disk first.

There is an online portal, save yourself the long hold times. Create ticket online, then call in with ticket # in hand :-) http://mysupport.symantec.com "We backup data to restore, we don't backup data just to back it up."

I have seen GRT working fine for me with BE 2010. Which version of ESX you are using also are you trying a file level grt or trying to select some database GRT. Because for the Database GRT you should have the license for that database and raws should be installed on that VM

As well as needing RAWS installed inside the VM, ESX permsssions can play a huge part in GRT
On my system I had to have Windows local admin permissions to the Virtual Center (VC) Server, The ESX Administrator Role for ESX itself and additionally have defined an account that was local admin inside the VM as well

The VC user is linked to the ESX role (so is one account)
The VM user can be a different account (which mine was as I had a differnt domain inside my VM)
You can define both using different lines in the Credentials section of the Backup Selection List.
