    Posted Jul 09, 2013 10:30 AM

After the succesfull upgrade proceedure from Symantec DLP 11.1 to 11.6 and rebooting the server i'm unable to connect to Enforce Console and noticed that "Vontu Manager" service doesn't starts automatically. After i start it manually and attempt to access Enforce Console the service crashes.

I have 3-Tier installation and DB is up'n'runnin (connection with sqlplus was successful). Has anyone faced such an issue?

P.S. the issue isn't license-related-checked this variant by deleting any license and was still unable to get into the Enforce Console

    Artem,

Check the various logs to see if there are any messages that indicate the issue.

If you have support, open a case and attach any logs you can find.

did you restart the password ?

can you start the services in this sequence

How to start the Manager Vontu Services:

                1. Vontu Notifier
                2. Vontu Manager
                3. Vontu Incident Persister
                4. Vontu Monitor Controller (if applicable)
                5. Vontu Update (if necessary)

Tried that one with support - no success( Now trying to find someone who might had the same problem. First logs lookup indicate the wrapper issue, but after reinstalling the enforce server no obvious log error messages are presented (manager, monitor controller, tomcat logs)

sorry , reset the password of windows after upgrade or before.

the service is dependent on logon user, if the password has been changed it could be the reason.

the existing one needs to be replaced with the changed password if any and then recycle the services.

You can check the upgrade log under the debug folder. And, did you ever run the post upgrade script? The Vontu Manager service will stop if the post upgrade script is not run.

Thanks to everyone for comments and suggestions!

The issue is now solved with the help of support team. The reason was: somehow there was another software on the server ( HP storage manager) that starts it's own tomcat5.exe process and our Vontu Manager deetcts that some process already uses tomcat server. We just deleted that software and Vontu Manager service starts appropriately.
