VTL SAS Backup Exec 3600

This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi,

I'm looking for VTL virtual libraries cooperating with SAS interface from Backup Exec 3600 appliance.

I checked the compatibility list but I can not find the device http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH175582&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1358343197051  .

it appears that if there are any SAS-attached VTLs they aren't supported at all. Only fibre-channel, SCSI, or in the case of 1 of the EMC products, NDMP.

I checked the HP site and they don't have anything like that.

If it isn't on the HCL, and perhaps does exist, you will run an unsupported configuration.

I can connect only SAS VTL to 3600 :(

Do you know how else I can connect an external drive (HDD) to 3600 applications?

Hi,

 

Check the screenshot below...external drives are supported as per the attachment, which references the relevant parts in the HCL.

So it appears to be supported within the limiits of the HCL!
