This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi, my master server is NBU 7.5.0.4 in Redhat 5. We have a VM (Redhat) which has vxfs volumes. The VMware version is 5.1. We are planning to back up the full VM and will restore individual files from the backup if required.

My question is:

Does NBU support backup and recovery of vxfs volumes in Linux VM? Thanks in advance.

Seems not....

See Statement of Support for NetBackup 7.x in a Virtual Environment ( Virtualization Technologies ):   http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH127089

Under the topic NetBackup for VMware Compatibility. you will find a section called Supported file systems for VMware
vxfs is not listed here.

You have a bigger problem Liuyang, VM 5.1 is not supported in 7.5.0.4 let alone vxfs on a guest.

The above comments are not to be construed as an official stance of the company I work for; hell half the time they are not even an official stance for me.

Have you seen the 'Support for vSphere 5.1 in NetBackup 7.5.0.4' section in the February version of the support doc mentioned above?
