vxmon.exe using 50% of processor

I am having an issue with one of my remote servers.  vxmon.exe consistanly uses 50% of the processor weather a backup job is running or not.  I have tries to kill the process, but get an access denied.  I know that vxmon.exe is the remote agent monitoring utility.  Is it necissary for it to run, and if not how do I kill the process and keep it from running.  I think this is part of the cause for my backup rate on this machine slowing down.

Thanks

Is not only monitoring utility but also remote agent configuration for database backup.
Normally it will take cpu time if you run a backup or if you publishing information to media server.
Be sure change the publishing interval time and maximize the refresh interval.
You can also uncheck boxes in Status and Publishing tabs.
Check your logs to find any related problems and try uninstall and reinstall the RAW.
