Can someone point me towards documentation for WAN setup requirements? Is anyone else using Altiris Deployment Solution in a WAN only environment?

Thanks!!

We (Weber School District, Ogden, UT) have been using DS in a WAN environment for a number of years. We use PXE with DOS (currently a 7-driver boot disk). A single server serves multiple networks. We are using DS 6.9 (or 6.8sp1). We use DHCP on a single MS server. The key is helper addresses in the routers (or layer 3 switches) to ensure that dhcp calls are seen and the pxe transfers occur properly to any of the networks served. The DS servers are on the same subnet as the dhcp server, but each DS server serves at least 5 class-c subnets. I hope this helps some. We are an HP shop with leases, currently up to DC7800's. I can give more details on the PXE, hardware detection, and various dos driver issues at another time if you like.

Don,

We are trying to do the exact same thing you have already setup. We are a hospital and currently have 300 HP thin clients on a 5 subnet network (which is all local and all behind our NAT Firewall, 192.168.0.0). This setup is working beautifully. Our hospital just got acquired by another entity and we are now going to support 10 more clinics spanning hundreds of miles apart.

How would you make a Thin Client at one of our remote clinics, see the DHCP there and not the DHCP server on the NAT'd network, 192.168.0.0? The address should be receiving a 172.0.0.0 address instead of a 192.168.0.0 address. This address is only seen after the OS boots and not when PXE boots (unable to image because of this).

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks
