  • 1.  Warning when trying to kill rtvscan

    Had a user try to kill rtvscan.exe and the below message came up:


    While I'm glad it wouldn't let them, I'm curious to know why...is a local admin as far as I know

    He would be a limited User..Local admins can kill rtvscan

    Actually, I just tried it on my machine (full rights) and I get a tamper protection notice as well as the warning above. I unchecked tamper protection in SEP settings and was then able to kill rtvscan so thats appears to be it...glad it's working :-)

    Yes Tamper Protections functionality is block killing of symantec pocesses like lucoms , luall,rtcscan and smc.

    However even if you dont have it enabled Limited Users cannot kill rtvscan.
