watching Netflix with Endpoint??? How do you make that happen

Created: 27 Nov 2011 | 4 comments

Hi I'm sorry but I'm new here and new to high end computer security. I just purchased a copy of endpoint pertection for small business and can't watch movies from Netflix anymore. I've been trying to figure out how to add an exception but it still won't open a movie

Could you let us know is Symantec Endpoint Protection blocking the Netflix website?

Could you check what has been blocked, is that the website or does it block the Activex component which you download / run from the website??

Could you check the Risk Log, Security Log and Traffic Logs on the SEP clients locally on what is being blocked??

Once, you have this, you can surely create an exception as Ajit has suggested you above.

NOTE: Creating an Exception is not recommended as the blocked file could surely be a Threat. In that case, you can submit the same file to the Symantec Security Response Team and they would create an Exception centrally if the file is found to be non- malicious.

To submit the file, you can visit:

Hope that helps!!

Try creating a rule in your firewall that allows all traffic from the Netflix domain. Let us know how it goes for you.

<edti>You might also try creating an exception for Microsoft's Silverlight (Netflix uses this for playing videos).
