  • 1.  WDE with ADK

    Hello,

I have a question related to the use of ADKs in conjunction with WDE.

If (before assigning any ADK) I have already encrypted a disk with WDE and then added an ADK later on, would it be automatically included in the encryption of that same disk?

A similar question is about the "Administrator Passphrase". If it is enabled in a policy after a disk has been WDE encrypted, would it take effect on the already encrypted disk?

    Thanks!

    Hi Mohammad

I don't know about ADK but with Adminitrator Passphrase it works as you say, even if you enable it after usin WDE, if you enable this obtion the Administrator user will be authorized to gat into the disk, when the bootguard scrren apperas press F5 and type the Passphrase of the Administraotr.

I Think with the ADK it must work as the same, but I am not sure about it.

Yes both will work, even if you already encrypted drives:

When pgp desktop policy is updated, it will add WDE admin user to acess list

    Hello,

From a Technical Support Engineer I've got to know that adding an ADK after a disk has already been WDE encrypted will NOT include the ADK in the disk's access list. To include it, I must decrypt then re-encrypt the disk.

The Administrator Passphrase however can be aaded and take effect on an already encrypted disk.

    Many thanks!
