    Dear All,

Below description is the  this question.

We install Win7 OS in different mode to try  this issue.

      1. AHCI mode ==> Install Win7 OS. Install necessary drivers. And check no yellow bang in device manager.  USE PGP WDE to encrypted whole disk and wait for 100% complete. Let system restart or shutdown. After POST, we need to use the password(setting is same as Windows user account).

Try to do power managemet(WB/S4/S5) several times, this mode can't duplicate BSOD.

     2. In ATA mode==> Install Win7 OS. Install necessary drivers. And check no yellow bang in device manager.  USE PGP WDE to encrypted whole disk and wait for 100% complete. Let system restart or shutdown. After POST, we need to use the password(setting is same as Windows user account).

Try to do power managemet (WB/S4/S5)several times, this mode can duplicate BSOD.

    (different Code: 0xD1, 0xA etc)

     3. If don't encrypted this image, just do power management(WB/S4/S5) , we can't duplicate BSOD.

    Please help , Thanks.

    Hi,

What do you mean by WB/S4/S5 ?  As far as I can see this isn't related to WDE, your BIOS not being compatible with ATA mode, but can you let me know what you mean by the power management things

    Hi ,

      WB : Warm Boot.  S4 : Hibernate. S5: Shutdown.

Change BIOS setting to ATA mode, not encrypted by WDE, the action of WB/S4/S5, no BSOD.

But after using WDE to encrypted the OS, it will have BSOD.

Does WDE support ATA mode? And if there is any official spec?

Fail rate 2/5 times not 100%

    Thanks.

Also can you please mention the exact point/ACPI state when you get the BSOD?

    Do CB/WB/S4 each 10 cycles.

    CB_1/10 times BSOD : 0x7e

    WB_1/10 times BSOD : 0x7b,

    S4_0/10 times.

    Hi,

The exact point : After we input the correct password then press Enter. It wil start to boot to OS. Sometimes the BSOD occur. Please refer to attachment pic file.

ACPI state : S4/S5(CB)/WB can duplicate this issue.

Can you update to 10.2.1 MP3?

Is this on a "Fresh install" of the OS and not an image? Are third party applications installed?  Have you tried updating the ATA drivers for the SATA controller?

I suspect that it has something to do with our password filter driver used for SSO (and possibly a conflict with a third party app at this point too).

try reinstalling pgp desktop using the MSI installer without SSO.

note: this will require you to create a passphrase user on the disk instead of using single-sign-on with your windows password.

This is for troubleshooting to isolate the problem.

run the msi in a run line with:

    pgpdesktop.msi /i PGP_INSTALL_SSO=0

Then reboot and then encrypt and see if that makes any difference.

Yes. Fresh install. Only install necessary driver.

Like Chipset ,  VGA , Audio, network etc.

About ATA driver, we use the inbox driver.

    Hi Ben,

I can't find .msi file. Only below .exe file.

    PGPDesktopWin32-10.2.0MP1.exe

    PGPDesktopWin64-10.2.0MP1.exe

If there are similar method for .exe?

you're quite a few revisions behind too if this is a fresh install, do you have the ability to get 10.2.1MP3?

Also, you can download the msi's direct from fileconnect.symantec.com - just put in your serial and you get taken to the products.

Oh, I just re-read the post and Weevils comment. i was under the impression that you said PGP WDE 10.2.1 MP1. The files you posted are PGP WDE 10.2.0 MP1. You are talking about a years worth of code changes. We have already addressed 7 or more BSOD issues. Most of them specific to our SSO filter drive r(as I had suspected was the problem).  I would recommend what weevile suggests and download a more recent copy from Fileconnect.

If you are having problems downloading form Fileconnect please call customer care at 800.721.3934. Their hours are 5am to 5pm PST Monday to Friday. They should be able to get you taken care of and provide you access to the downloads if you are still paying for a software maintenance agreement or upgrade assurance.

BTW, if it's impossible for you to upgrade. You could try the workaround of disabling SSO still. You can extract the MSI from the EXE installer using this method listed below. Good luck!

    Hi Ben,

        Thanks.

Issue still can duplicate with *.msi install.

        Fail rate:CB_3/10 times , WB_2/10 times.
