We have a Reporting server having "blank" in the dashboard.

This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi Team,

We have a Reporting server having "blank" in the dashboard.
Days ago, we notice that the reports we got from the parent servers were far lower that the threat reporter.
They are not in synch then after several days, we can no longer access it.

What could be the cause of this?

Thanks,

Nel Ramos

Re

Hi Nel, what version of SAV are you using? Can you post System or Application logs from the Eventviwer? This could be a database problem.

though not  expert in SQL,

though not  expert in SQL, however with the screen shot pasted it looks loke permission issue as it has met the threshold value of 2048 MB per DB. Hence you need to find out the way to increase the size. Also not sure if this is causing the issue. Check the IIS permission as well.

Cheers!!

Re

pete is correct, you have to increase the transaction log to be able to manage the db..

@pete_4u2002: Do you know the limit threshold value for this?
if so, please kindly state the limits for MSDE (Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine).
I'm checking also the ISS.
Thanks you so much.
@Paul Mapacpac: thanks also.

Hi,

You should change to SQL Express 2005 or delete old data from the database.

@Jukka Ruotsila: Thats a nice suggestion but the problem is the database could not be accessed.
Might be already full. Is there another work around?

@Paul Mapacpac: I had read the article and it give many info about SQL MSDE...
are there other articles for DBs that could not be accessed?
Thanks for the help.

Hi, Have a look at this

Hi,

Have a look at this document. http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security....

Also check from ODBC that the database connection is working properly.

Re

You could extend the transaction logs my installaing SQL Manager.

Nel Ramos's picture

That's good if the DB is not

That's good if the DB is not yet full..
but it is.. sad to say...
even the transaction logs could not be accessed since I know it needs free bytes in the DB for a login to be accepted...

Well the only thing to do maybe is to make a new DB..
but how about my old logs..
Need it for the quartely report...
is there a way to access this? at least so that we could back it up and archive it...

Many thanks to all of you...

Hi,

I don't think it's recommended but you could of course import data from the old database into the new one.

Hi, 1. Install SQL 2005 admin

Solution

Hi,

1. Install SQL 2005 admin tools

2. Renaming the reporting database should be enough

3. Install reporting server with new database. Stop reporting agent right after install.

4. Import data from old database with query analyzer or with export/import wizard. This is where you have to do your own research if you don't know how to do it.

5. Test that you can see old data with web browser.

6. Start up reporting agent so new data will flow in.

Good luck :)

Re

I hope this works, but from my experience before. checking the "database file (over the limit)", will be inconsistent with the SQL admin tools, I will also try to look for the procedure I used before, and will give you update.

Nel Ramos's picture

@Paul Mapacpac: If you have

@Paul Mapacpac: If you have please kindly post.
I will wait for it...
But still gonna use the proceedure above and lets just see if it works afterwards.

@ubri04: Hi.. it would be best if a thread already have a solution.. we would either check if it helped us and vote for he solution itself... and not comment since it is already thru...
If you would have a new problem in connection to the solved thread I think it would be better to just open a new thread so not to confuse the others...
I myself if moved by a good comment gives points to the member so as long as it resolves my issues...
This is my last comment in this thread... :)
Thank you for having interest in this topic teammates...
Just my thoughts..
