Hi.
I am struggling a bit to see the difference between these to applications.
To make it short, is it possible to set up and install this sw on a virtual server using vmware or do I need to install it on a physical server ?
Is brightmail doing the same job as the web gateway ? When looking into the documentation for web gateway they are always refering to a physical server.

Different Products
Hi,
Brightmail Gateway (SBG) and Web Gateway (SWG) are different products.
SBG deals with mail threat security - Antivirus, antispam and content control and compliance.
SWG protects against web based threats over all protocols other than SMTP.
Brightmail Gateway can run on ESX and ESXi, thus saving the hardware cost associated with the physical appliance.
Web Gateway does not currently run in a virtualisation format and is only available as a physical appliance.
I hope that helps, let me know if you have any more questions.

Hello -
In regards to Central Intelligence - the two new appliances (SWG-8450 and SWG-8490) can both run as Central Intelligence models. This is now a software setting on the device that is configurable upon install.
