Hi Everyone,
I have a question regarding the frequency of how often the web reports run. Do they run instantly or are they scheduled similarly to the inventory scans?
Thanks.

The web reports don't run
on a schedule unless you setup an automation policy for them. You can save snapshots for comparison purpposes, but this isn't a default behavior.

Inventory
Thanks for the response. I'm trying to figure out the following:
If all of my inventory scans run weekly and I have a 98% successful rate. Why my web reports are not showing the updated information?
Example:
Thoughts?
Thanks for all your help.
Does the basic inventory
show that they are Windows 7? Were they previous systems with XP, that got reimaged to 7? You could try creating an inventory task and forcing it to run. It's hard to say without access to what you are seeing. If they do have the inventory agent (heck the basic agent should be telling you the correct OS), the data should be as recent as the last scan.

Inventory scan
Hi Jharings,
Yes, the system was recently reimaged to windows 7. I checked the inventory task and ran a basic scan and the system.
Here's the strange part: If you type the systems name into the NS search and look at the system details it displays the correct information. If you run the web report "Reports>Discovery and Inventory>Inventory>Cross Platform>Operating System>Count of Computers by Operating System". It displays the system as Windows XP!!
Any thoughts?
When you are looking at the
When you are looking at the computer inside Manage\Computers or in a filter the Operating System information is reported by Basic Inventory. This by default is reported on a daily basis.
The Inventory reports use the information collected when the different Inventory policies run. If the reports aren't showing the correct information it means either the hardware scan hasn't run successfully or the NSE file wasn't able to be processed by the Notification Server.
On the client machine check the file %ProgramFiles%\Altiris\Inventory\NSI\CLN OS Operating System.bak. First check the date on the file to determine the last time it was updated. Second open the file in Notepad and see what operating system information it contains.
If the file looks fine then the Notification Server couldn't process the file that contained the information. Delete the .bak file from the client machine and have it re-run a hardware inventory scan.
Thanks
Hi TGiles,
I checked the %ProgramFiles%\Altiris\Inventory\NSI\ and was unable to find the following file: CLN OS Operating System.bak.
I'm going to let my sheduled scans run tomorrow by default to ensure there are no issues there. If they run correctly I should be able to see the above file. I will update the thread tomorrow, thanks again for your help.
All is working now. Thanks
