Web Security as Proxy

Created: 29 Jan 2010 • Updated: 02 Aug 2010 | 1 comment

Hello Everybody.

Is there a way to configure symantec web gateway version 4.5.2.72 as proxy?

We are evaluating the appliance and we have configured squid as proxy.  Symantec web gateway is conected in a span port.

Objective is leave Symantec Web Gateway acting as proxy.  If this is possible, workgroups can be computers groups instead user groups?

Best Regards.-

Gera,

SWG v4.5 does not contain a proxy at all, so it is not possible to configure it in this manner.  As you've stated, if your network topology requirements force a proxy to be in the network, you can deploy any proxy (such as Squid) in conjunction with SWG.

I'm a bit confused as to your second question - do you want to create policy groups based upon MachineID rather than UserID?
