This issue has been solved. See solution.
When I run a Web server backup job, the duplicate job fails with the following error
Unable to acquire device for the specified pool and media .
Also in the job monitor under the status of the job it says 'Device paused'.

Hi, go to the Devices tab,
Hi,
go to the Devices tab, right-click the server and choose Unpause.
I'd also suggest restarting the BE services for good measure before trying the backup again.
Thanks!

i tried following symantec technical support...however i am facing the same error while duplicating the job. The initial error ' Device paused' isnt happening now, but the duplicate job fails qith the following error.
Job ended: 15. februar 2012 at 23:17:11
Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xe0000602 - A query for media on which the data set being read is continued was unsuccessful. Ensure that all media in the family have been inventoried and cataloged.
Final error category: Backup Media Errors
I have inventoried the backup disk and have run the job, however it still fails

the article that you have
the article that you have sent doesnt seem to be opening. Is there any way of seeing it. I think we might have found the source of the problem. The backup set pertaining to the media that could not be duplicated got cancelled for some reason earlier . So that was why the duplicate was failing when it came to that particular backup set which never got backed up initially. I have rerun the duplicate now after editing the selection list again. Will update the post once its done.
The duplicate finally worked.
