    Hi All,

We have recently purchased Symantec web gateway, but before I install, i'm wondering if it's possible to publish the box externally so users can be pushed through the proxy if they are on site or not?  If it is possible, can you advise the recommended configuration (port span/tap, inline etc) that we would need to use, if this needs to be specific.

I've had a look through the documentation, but can't see anything that mentions publishing externally, so any concepts or real world examples would be very welcome!

    Thanks,

Symantec Web Gateway is designed to be on and protect/monitor your network. Not to be available for external users/clients. This is not something symantec would be likely to support. While you could use port forwarding from the firewall for the proxy port(s), however the internal subnets of the network configuration would need to be configured to indicate which networks are internal and putting an external network range in this list could cause other filtering issues. A better option would be to have those external users be connected via VPN and use the SWG proxy or even inline.

Many thanks for the reply, I thought that would be the case, but you never know! :)
