  • 1.  Weekly scan never finishes causing Active Scan to take 1.5 hrs!

I am using MR3 and we are finding with some of our clients, that the Weekly scan never finishes.
When you look in the logs you can see about 7 scans that say scanning!
This seems to be causing the auto scan to take 1.5 hrs as the scans maybe conflicting.

What can i do to sort this out??

Are those scans full scans? If os don't be so surprised because it will scan whole drive. Change it to Quick Scan and it run for few minutes. I know that Full Scan is ment to be more secure but if some virus got on your system and wasn't blocked by AutoScan then it will be blocked by On-Access Scan later or it won't be detected at all or at least it won't be removable from the infected system.

Yes the weekly scan is a full scan  of the system. We will not change these to quick scans. Thats the whole point of a full scan. You will be very surprised what gets picked up by a full scan rather than any other scan.
So how do i fix the problem i have?

I know that it may pick up something but the thing is if it's detected by full scan then if someone will try to access it or run it it will also be detected so you are protected.
It's always an issue to balance security and performance.
In your situation I would set up monthly full scan overnight and tell the users to leave the PC on at that time. One day per month should be acceptable. And weekly scan change to Quick.

our users have only 9 to 10 gb of data on the hdd and still the full scan never end sin some machine .it takes atleast 3 to 4 hours. if full scan is detecting the virus then what auto protect was doing while the virus was entering the pc.should not autoprotect detect the virus while it enters the pc.

The initial problem for me is that the client is trying to run lots of scans currently and they never end.
They are say scanning. What i do to prevent the problem is a different issue.
How do i fix the problems that i currently have.

    Thanks
