I was wondering if anyone in the SD7 beta or Symantec employees know how the Helpdesk components are going to be used in WF7? We're currently using WF 6.5 and Helpdesk 6 and have a few WF projects deployed and need to know how much work it will take to do the changeover? We're upgrading to WF7 soon but won't be implementing SD7 until later next year but when we do, we need to have the existing workflows migrated and operational in SD7. Are there SD7 components already integrated with WF7?

The Helpdesk components from 6.5 should still be available in WF7, provided you have a NS6 registered in your NS credentials tool. It doesn't necessarily have to be your default; it just has to be registered.

    Hi reecardo,

So does that mean that when we install SD7 and point WF7 to the new NS, the Helpdesk components that are already used in the projects will automatically interface with SD7 and that no changes will need to be made to the projects? Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

ServiceDesk is basically made to work with NS7; it's delivered via an NS7 solution, it's components were built with NS7 in mind, etc. However, this doesn't mean that the old Helpdesk components (or any components coded for NS6) "went away".

When you inStall SD7, it'll ask for an NS7 as a licensing server. This actually creates an entry in your credentials tool and makes it the default. Once the install is done, you can register an NS6, and get the Helpdesk components to appear in the tree.

Thanks for clearing this up for me and hopefully when we make the transitions there won't be any issues.
