  • 1.  What content revisions will I download on a daily download schedule

    Hello all,

    Version 12.1.6.

I have a doubt about the revisions that I will get dowloaded if I configure the LU download schedule to be run daily instead of each 4 hours.

Will I get only the latest revision published on the time of the download? If so, do this mean that If I re-schedule the LU download content to be run only once a day, the 90 revisions to be kept will be for 90 days, instead of 30 days (3 revisions per day on average)?

As the first revision of the day is the one that has the updates for all the security technologies (on average), what do you think would be the best time to schedule the daily update in CET?

    Kind regards,

    Juan

You would only get the newest content available. Updates come out 2-3x per day on a week so every 4 hours is about good.

theoretically what you are saying is correct, but lets think of it other way, say you about 100 laptop users taking their machines home and working while doing so it gets updated from the symantec liveupdate server. The next morning when they connect their machine to the corporate network and the sep client sends request for new definition, sepm will not be able to provide the delta package as it may not have the revision that client holds, so sepm will distribute full.zip, so it can and most probably it will choke down your network bandwidth. so make the right decision based on your needs.
