I am pushing a 12 upgrade now.

The Sylink.xml is located in the

\\SERVERNAMEc$\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus

Folder which is not the typical directory for Symantec EP

Hello,

I believe you have ran the setup from the shared drive.

I would suggest to run the installation from the Local drive instead.

Check this Article:

Failed to start the Symantec management client service. Error code returned: 0x80070420

and

Check this Thread:

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/smc-0x80070420-error

Hope that helps!!

Hello,

Uninstalling and re-installing from local drive will fix your problem.

Yes it should upgrade over 11.x. A reboot is than needed. Should be ok after that.

Hello,

After you uninstall SEP and Liveupdate, make sure you have the setup package ran from the Local machine.

Hope that helps!!
