What is Download Randomization ?

Hello,

 

I just Upgrade to MR3 and found a new features

 

Under: Clients > Policies > Communications Settings for Default > Download Randomization.

 

Can anyone of the Endpoint team explain this feature for me in details please, Thanks

 

*Another thing, after upgrade the processe dbsrv9.exe always high mem. usage 119,680 K

 

Isn't that usage too high for this processe ?

Radomization is basically exactly what it says in the description of that section. There's no more or less to it than that.

 

My dbsrv9.exe is using 170,143 kb. Seems normal to me. As you can see, this is why we require a minimum of 1GB ram on the SEPM machine, preferably 2-4GB.

Randomization with Newer Install Packages?

Does Download Randomization play any role whenever you add a newer install package to your client groups?  I haven't touched my randomization window value of 5 minutes.  Would increasing this timeframe help SEP client upgrades at remote sites with slow network connections?  I wasn't sure from the d/l randomization description whether it'll kick in even when clients go from, say, version 11.0.4000 to 11.0.4202, or whatever.  Thanks!
