  • 1.  What happens when the Database goes offline?

    Posted Jun 17, 2009 11:20 AM
    Hi there,
We currently have a SEP implementation with two management servers and one database server, all on separate machines.

Our database server and one of the management servers are virtual machines. The host server is having minor disk issues and we plan to take the virtual servers offline fix the host machine and bring the virtual machine back up again.

during this outage, what will happen to the clients, will they still be able download definitions?

We have about 300 client machines in the database at the moment.

    Cheers.

No they will not able able to download the definitions
But if you are palnning to bring the database backup quickly then that should not be an issue but if its going to take you days for it then you can configure the clients to run the liveupdate automaticlay themself  in other words you can schedule the liveupdate for the client before you take the database off line.

Correct me if I am wrong, but if your clients are configured as shown in the screenshot, then when the management server goes offline the clients will then go to the Symantec LiveUpdate server for definitions.
