what happens when EV indexes are in backup mode and an index rebuild is kicked off?

As per the title.... is the request queued until the index is back out of backup mode?

Environment is EV9.0.2

Yup, it will be set to rebuild when its taken out of backup mode
you could always test it on a test archive with a couple of items
