Hello,

I am planning to reinstall Deployment Solution 6.9. However i want to install Client Management Suite 6.5 too. What do i need to install and configure first, the deployment solution or the client management?

Why not install the CMS 7? There are many advantages over the CMS 6. You could see more details at Altiris 7 Planing & Implementation doc (https://kb.altiris.com/article.asp?article=45803&p=1).

However, if you really want the CMS 6 (consult the following documentations at System Requirements sessions):

So, if i go ahead and install CMS7, should i install DS6.9? or is DS6.9 integrated with the CMS7?

can CMS7 be used in conjunction with a DS only or is an NS required?

CMS7 will include DS7 and NS7. You can install both separately tho.

One of our admins said we were licensed for "level 1" but i can't find anything in the docs to define what that is...?

so if i install CMS7 i will have DS7 too? can i import all my jobs from DS6.9?
Also, i was looking for DS7 and could not find it... are we then talking about DS6.9 sp2?

Then, if its DS6.9 and CMS 7, what do i need to install first?

Symantec has simplified the SKUs for Altiris in the 7.0 environment; as I understand it you will just buy Client Management Suite (CMS) or Server Management Suite (SMS) and all solutions are included in that, though some are "add-ons" or contained in other suites (such as Contract Managmement or ServiceDesk).  In CMS 6.x terminology, "Level 1" of CMS includes Inventory, Carbon Copy, Patch Mgmt, Application Metering, Deployment Solution/Server, and Software Delivery.  There are some screenshots out there of the CMS hierarchy, but as I recall Level 2 includes Local Recovery Pro (which has been EOL'd), and Level 3 included Recovery Solution for Clients (Server-based).
