RU is a release update and is a full update which can be installed over any previous version

MP is a maintenance pack which usually can only be installed over the existing RU. So for example SEP 12.1 RU2 MP1 can only be installed over 12.1 RU2.

MR has been replaced by RU

See below KBA for further explanation

What are the Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) versions released officially?

    Hi,

Always check System requirements before doing an upgrade.

It's always recommended to have SEPM and SEP clients on the same version.

This document contains all the versions of SEP and SEPM (Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager) which were released since the first version of SEP in autumn 2007.

It contains the Enterprise Editions (EE) and Small Business Editions (SBE) information.

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH154475

Note: In SEP 11.x platform version codes were different for EE and SBE. From SEP 12.1 onwards version codes are unique for EE and SBE.
