What methods to backup hosts data to NetApp storage and then dump to Tape

Created: 22 Jun 2013 • Updated: 22 Jun 2013 | 1 comment

This is basically two steps. I can understand the later steps which is to dump data using NDMP from NetApp storage to FC attached tape library. To achive that, I can create NDMP storage unit, and then NDMP host is NetApp host.

My question is the first step. What methods, either using options/licenses/software, to backup  data from all NB clients to NetApp storage?

One way I can think of using NFS, which export NetApp volumes to media servers, then in "desk type" to choose "disk", enter the NFS mount point in "Absolute pathname to directory".

Is this people in real work would use?

What are other commonly used methods?

 NB enterprise 6.5/7.0

Appreciate your advices!

#NDMP for netbackup license.

netbackup 6.5 + ndmp options software.

netbackup 7.0 include the model.
