I don't have understand what is the rule that Symantec use for release the patch / update for Adobe product.

I don't see the Adobe Flash Player 11 update (the PIM import is still at version 10). About Micorosft patch I know that there are some days from vendor release to Symantec publishing, but Adobe Flash Player 11 is coming out many days ago.

Why I don't see this update? What are the roule for the release of vendor patch? Microsoft patches are important but also those of other manufacturers are.

    Hi mbarbaro,

Adobe PMImports will follow Adobe's schedule to release on the 2nd week in the first month of each quarter.  If Out of Band bulletins are released there will be a corresponding PMImport provided.  To date these have always been available within 48 hours of Adobe releasing their bulletins, however this is a guideline and may vary.

Flash Player 11 update support available in Adobe PMImport cabs.

Newly released Flash Player 11 update in APSB11-28 is included in PMImport version (7.0.1055.0)

    Thanks,

    Hi Fabio,

thanks for the answer. I have read about Symantec policy for Adobe PMImport, but if I read the article HowTo32549 that you have reported in your post, I see that in "Adobe PMImport 7.0.1054.0 (October 2011 Out-of-Cycle)" there is under "New features in this release":

     Support for deploying Bulletins:
    1. Added support for Adobe AIR 3.0 in APSB11-21 (Critical) http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb11-21.html
    2. Added support for Adobe Flash Player 11 in APSB11-26 (Critical) http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb11-26.html

For the point 2 of this HOWTO (http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO60833 ) in APSB11-26 was added the support for Adobe Flash Player 11, but I don't see any trace of this in my bulletin or PMImport. Why?

If instead I have to wait the 2nd week in the first month of each quarter for add Adobe Flash 11 support, for me this patch solution isn't good because my users ask me the new Flash Player release for see most website in WEB and I can't wait so many time. Don't you think?

      Regards

    Hi Amol,

    thanks for answer

My last PMImport version is 7.1.255 (I have SMP 7.1 SP1). I don't know if your Altiris version is different by mine and if Altiris 7.0 have a different PMImport.

For Adobe my last update is APSB11-27, released in date 07/11/2011 (dd/mm/yyyy).

    Regards

yes, Altiris 7.0 has a different PM Import (there are two of them - one for Patch 6.x, 7.0, 7.1 and another for Patch 7.1 SP1+).

You need to check today's PM Import 7.1.257 for Patch 7.1 SP1 - it contains APSB11-28 with Adobe Flash Player 11.1.0.102.55 update.

    Hi Dmitri,

I have checked my PM import and today I have found the APSP11-28 bulletin with Adobe Flash Player 11 support.

I'm surprised for Symantec policy that coming out with bulletins in different moments (taking for last the major release product version, 7.1 SP1.....). Adobe Flash 11 came out in 11/10/2011, release the patch one month later is not a good policy for a product that has to do patch management.

    Thank for the support.

APSP11-28 is the first update available for Adobe Flash Player 11 and was released in PM Import in 6 days (16-Nov-11) after release from Adobe (10-Nov-11).

Adobe Flash Player 11 itself is not an update (it's a major release) and is not expected to be a part of PM Import datafeed.
