What is _SharedHardlinkData_

Created: 11 Nov 2009 • Updated: 21 May 2010 | 3 comments

My daily jobs spend several hours backing up a folder named _SharedHardlinkData_ .   Can someone shed some light on what this is?  Seperatley how can I exclude this from my backups?

Hi Guy,

Go to your selection list, and there will be a tab called Include/Exclude (cannot remember the exact syntax off-hand).
If you know the drive that the folder is on, you can type in the details. otherwise, browse to it, select that folder, and set the option to Exclude it (little bullet icon).

Laters!

I wish it were that easy.  I have no idea where that directory is.  I have used the Windows Search plus manually scoured my server's hard drive for that folder and can not find it anywhere.  Same with the restore wizard in backup exec.

I think the folder comes in as part of System State.

Mmm...it does appear to be part of the registry of sorts. You obviously don't want to exclude that, and all I found on the net was reference to older versions of the application.
i'd take a look at the Remote Agent on that server, and make sure it's not showing up with any errors in Event Viewer. If not, reinstalling it is a quick task.
As for excluding it, you could look at putting in a global exclusion on that particular server.
